7. Sample Tube Cassettes (see figure 5): Other than priority
“ INSERT ” tests, all tests should be run on samples in tubes
loaded into the cassettes provided. The cassettes contain mag-
netic identification and sample location.
8. Calibration Cassette (optional) : A specialized cassette that
initiates re-calibration.
9. Cassette Pusher (see figure 5): Pushes each cassette in the left
(input) deck into proper position for the cassette indexing mech-
anism.
10. Cassette Index Mechanism (see figure 5): Indexes the most
rearward cassette in the left (input) deck to the right, one posi-
tion at a time, to sequentially present each sample tube to the
operating head for testing.
11. Insert Test Well (see figure 5): For single, priority tests.
12. Sample Freezing Chamber (see figure 5): Thermoelectric for
reliability and precise control. Contains a small amount of heat
transfer fluid for optimum cooling capacity.
13. Heat Transfer Fluid Pre-cooling Chamber (inside):
Thermoelectrically pre-cools heat transfer fluid for faster opera-
tion.
14. Operating Head (see figure 5): Contains an electrically vibrat-
ed stir/freeze wire; an ultra-stable, ultra-precise thermistor sam-
ple probe and devices to automatically center the thermistor in
the sample. Picks up the positioned sample tube and places it in
the sample freezing chamber for testing. After the freezing point
test, the operating head returns each sample tube to its proper
position in the cassette ( “ INSERT ” samples are returned to the
insert test position).
