VALVE CLEARANCE INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT

4. Check:

Valve clearance
Out of specification

 Adjust. 

Valve clearance (cold):

Intake valve:

0.08 ~ 0.12 mm 
(0.0031 ~ 0.0047 in)

Exhaust valve:

0.10 ~ 0.14 mm 
(0.0039 ~ 0.0055 in)

Checking steps:

●

Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise with
a wrench.

●

Align the T.D.C. mark 

a

 on the rotor with

the align mark 

b

 on the crankcase cover

when piston is at T.D.C. on compression
stroke.

●

Measure the valve clearance using a
feeler gauge

Out of specification

 Adjust clearance.

Adjustment steps:

Loosen the locknut

Turn the adjuster

 in or out with the

valve adjusting tool

 until specified clear-

ance is obtained.
