Chapter 4 Using AutoSetPAC in Program Mode

Figure 4-1.
Tonnages Produced on Left Strain Link during Sample Period: Example
Reverse setpoints are calculated by multiplying the reverse setpoint percentage set in Initialization
mode (see
Setting Reverse Setpoint % of Press Capacity
, page 68) by the full-scale tonnage of the
press. Therefore, continuing our example, if the reverse setpoint percentage set in Initialization is
15%, the reverse setpoint for both channels would be 7.5 tons (15% of 50 tons, the full-scale tonnage
of the press). Whenever the reverse setpoint is exceeded, a fault message displays on the SmartPAC
front panel (see Figure 6-1, page 123).
AutoSetPAC displays the results of its high, low, and repeatability setpoint calculations on the
View/Adjust Setpoints screen in Program and Run modes (see
Viewing and Adjusting Setpoints
sections in Chapter 4 (page 101) and Chapter 5 (page 111). High and low setpoints are displayed
graphically on the Tonnage Bargraph View screen in Run mode (see page 110). Two setpoints are
shown for AutoSetPAC 2-Channel and four setpoints for AutoSetPAC 4-Channel.
AutoSetPAC calculates setpoints whenever you perform the
Recalculate Setpoints
function (see
, page 104 or page 114) or load a tool with a new high setpoint, low setpoint,
or repeatability setpoint percentage. Setpoints are displayed after the sample period is completed.
AutoSetPAC calculates new reverse setpoints whenever the reverse setpoint percentage or full-scale
press capacity value is changed in SmartPAC Initialization.
Setpoints can be recalculated even when the press is running.
You can standardize tonnage monitor settings for all your tools, using SmartPAC’s Copy Tool
Copying Tonnage Monitor Settings
, page 100). If you want to use different settings for
Changing Tonnage Monitor Settings
Startup Counter
The Tonnage Monitor Programming Menu also allows you to set the Startup Counter if this option
has been enabled in Initialization mode (see
Disabling/Enabling AutoSetPAC Parameters
The Startup Counter specifies the number of strokes to allow after startup of the press before
AutoSetPAC begins to monitor tonnage or calculate setpoints. During the period defined by the
specified number of strokes, AutoSetPAC disables high, low, and repeatability setpoints and suspends
calculation of setpoints.
