the manual.

A “zero cam” is a cam switch that sends a signal to AutoSetPAC near the beginning of each stroke.

This signal, which is called the zero signal, turns on at a crankshaft angle of 240° and turns off at an

angle of 30°. The zero signal clears, or “zeroes,” the tonnage reading on each stroke and prevents

AutoSetPAC from registering any tonnage events within the zero cam window. The zero cam ensures

that AutoSetPAC records press tonnage occurring near the bottom of the stroke and not tonnage

events associated with the beginning or end of the stroke.
The zero cam window also enables AutoSetPAC to determine what proportion of the tonnage

recorded on each stroke is being produced by expansion of the press frame as the press heats up

during the day and to correct the displayed tonnage accordingly.
The zero signal in AutoSetPAC is provided by SmartPAC. To make wiring connections for this zero

signal, refer to the tables and steps below.
