Connecting an AutoSet to Original SmartPAC

To connect an AutoSet to original SmartPAC, perform the following steps. Refer to your Original

SmartPAC manual and the wiring diagrams 4 and 5 at the end of this manual.
1.

Access the List of Installed Options screen on the Main Initialization Menu (similar to Figure 3-2,

page 64), and verify the version number of SmartPAC and of Character Generator.

•

If SmartPAC firmware is earlier than V1.56, you must replace it with a current version.

•

If the Character Generator is earlier than V1.07, you must replace it with version V1.07.

Contact Wintriss Tech. Support to arrange for updated firmware.

If you must replace SmartPAC firmware, be sure to record the settings for start and stop time

limits on the Set Brake Monitor screen in Initialization mode. Also, record the cam channel

names shown on the Cam Channel Name Menu in Initialization before changing the firmware.

Refer to your SmartPAC manual for assistance.

Connecting a New AutoSetPAC to Original

SmartPAC, page 53.

Remove the AutoSet firmware chip, and replace it with a new chip.
The chip, which has a label on it, is identified on the board as component “XU106” and is located

directly beneath the power transformer (T101) at the top of the AutoSet processor board (see

board drawing in AutoSet user manual).
Note that the semi-circular notch on the firmware chip faces to the left. When replacing the chip,

make sure that the notch on the new chip also faces to the left.

Run a communications cable between the AutoSet and SmartPAC and wire both ends to the

appropriate connector, repeating steps 1 through 4 of

Connecting AutoSet to SmartPAC Pro or

SmartPAC 2 procedure, above. Refer to Table 2-14 for wiring connections.
