“ALT”
Menu
On certain screens, an alternate navigation menu called the
“ALT” menu appears. Typically, the ALT menu is displayed
when traditional “Cursor-and-Enter” navigation is used on a
screen rather than the touch screen. It consists of the following
buttons:
HELP or ?
– The Help button is active on most screens. As
the label implies, this button provides instructions for the
specific screen you are viewing.
ALT
– The ALT button expands and collapses the ALT Menu.
Camera
–When pressed, the camera icon captures an image of
the current screen. See your SmartPAC PRO user manual for
more information on the Screen Capture feature.
RESET
– The Reset button performs a similar function to the
EXIT
button on the touch screen: It backs you out of the current
screen or
clears a status message.
ENTER
– The Enter button is used to select a highlighted item
during
navigation, or to register a value entered into a field.
Cursor (arrow) keys
– The cursor keys are used to move the on-screen
navigation highlight, to increment and decrement numeric values, and to set
the on and off angles for programmable limit switch outputs and die
protection ready signals.
Strain Links
AutoSetPAC receives its tonnage information from strain links, which are mounted to the press frame
or other structural members and wired to the load analyzer. Strain links measure the forces acting on
the press frame, converting press frame deflection into an electrical signal. This signal is proportional
to the load being generated by the press.
Two strain links are used with AutoSetPAC 2-Channel, four strain links with AutoSetPAC 4-
Channel. Instructions on how mount and wire strain links are provided in
, page
41. Zeroing strain links is covered in
Calibration
AutoSetPAC must be calibrated before use. To calibrate the unit, you first load the press to a known
tonnage, using load cells connected to an independent load monitor that you know will give correct
readings. You then adjust the tonnage readings on AutoSetPAC until they match the tonnage readings
on the independent load monitor. Instructions for calibrating AutoSetPAC are provided in Chapter 3.
