Make sure to connect the cable shield to the ground stud on the enclosure nearest the knockout

through which you bring the communications wiring, as shown in Figure 2-13, page 47.

Verify that switch 6 on Mode switch block S101 on the AutoSetPAC processor board is set to the

OFF position, its default setting (see Figure 3-1, page 62).

NOTICE

If you connect a second AutoSetPAC to SmartPAC 2 or SmartPAC PRO, you must set switch 6

on S101 on the second AutoSetPAC board to the ON position. This setting identifies the second

AutoSetPAC to SmartPAC (see Figure 3-1, page 62).

Wiring an Oscilloscope (Optional)

You can connect an oscilloscope to the AutoSetPAC load analyzer to view tonnage waveforms

produced at each strain link. The AutoSetPAC outputs for this function are -4.688 to +4.688 Vdc.
At 120% of press capacity, output of each strain link is 4.688 Vdc. Output is ratiometric, so at 100%

of press capacity, output of each strain link is 3.907 Vdc.
For example, for an AutoSetPAC 4- unit with press capacity of 100 tons, the output for each

strain link is 3.907 Vdc at 25 tons of load, 1.563 Vdc at 10 tons, etc.
Follow these steps to connect an oscilloscope.
1.

Locate terminal block TB101B (120 VAC AutoSetPAC 2-Channel) or TB101(A) (120 VAC

AutoSetPAC 4-Channel) on the AutoSetPAC processor board, referring to Figure 2-6 or Figure

2.

Run wiring from the oscilloscope through flexible, liquid-tight conduit to the bottom left

knockout on the AutoSetPAC enclosure or to the appropriate location on your console. Measure

and cut the cable so it reaches TB101, TB101B or TB101(A) easily.
The optional AutoSetPAC enclosure is rated NEMA 12 (protected against dust and oil). If you

have an AutoSetPAC enclosure, you must use conduit rated NEMA 12 and make proper conduit

connections to ensure NEMA 12 protection.

Remove the connector from the TB 101, TB101B or TB101(A) terminal block, and connect

wiring for the oscilloscope as shown in Table 2-11 or Table 2-12. On AutoSetPAC 2-Channel

models connect three wires, one for each of the two strain links and one for ground. On

AutoSetPAC 4-Channel units, connect five wires, one for each of the four strain links and one for

ground.
