– Remove vibration damper. To do this, lock vibration damper
using counterhold - T10172- .
– Unbolt sealing flange.
– Remove sealant residues from sealing surfaces.
Installing:
Note
The supplied guide sleeve must not be removed before installa‐
tion.
– Remove oil residues from crankshaft journal with a clean cloth.
– Clean sealing surfaces with cleaning solution - D 291 091 A1- .
– Cut off nozzle on tube at front marking (∅ of nozzle approx.
3 mm).
– Apply a bead of sealant - D 176 501 A1- of about 2 … 3 mm
as shown -arrows- to cleaned sealing surface of sealing
flange.

Before applying sealant bead, cover sealing ring with a clean
cloth.

The sealing compound bead must not be thicker than 2 to
3 mm. Otherwise excessive sealing compound will enter the
sump and may block the oil suction pipe strainer.

Observe use-by-date of sealant.
♦
The sealing flange must be installed within 5 minutes after ap‐
plying the silicone sealant.
– Fit sealing flange -1- with guide sleeve of seal -2- on the crank‐
shaft journal.
– Carefully slide sealing flange with sealing ring over guide
sleeve.
– Bolt sealing flange to cylinder block. Specified torque: 10 Nm.
– Install sump
.
– Install vibration damper
– Install poly V-belt
