Removing:
– Remove noise insulation ⇒ General body repairs, exterior;
Rep. gr. 66 ; Noise insulation; Assembly overview - noise in‐
sulation .
– Detach connector from oil level and temperature sender -
G266- .
– Drain engine oil.
– Unbolt heat shield above right drive shaft from sump.
– Remove poly V-belt
.
– Unscrew gearbox/sump securing bolts.

Follow disposal regulations for engine oil!

On vehicles with DSG® gearbox, the flywheel has an inden‐
tation -A- to fit the sump bolts. Turn the flywheel so that the
bolt head is accessible.
– Remove sump bolts on the gearbox side -arrows- using bit
XZN 8 - T40159- .
– Remove remaining sump bolts and remove sump.
– Loosen sump with light blows of a rubber headed hammer if
necessary.
– Remove sealant residues from cylinder block with a flat scra‐
per.
– Remove sealant residues on sump with a rotating brush, e.g.
an electric drill with plastic brush attachment (wear eye pro‐
tection).
– Clean sealing surfaces. They must be free of oil and grease.
Installing:
Note

Observe use-by-date of sealant.
♦
The sump must be installed within 5 minutes of applying sili‐
cone sealing compound.
