– Cut off nozzle on tube at front marking (∅ of nozzle approx.
3 mm).
– Apply sealant - D 176 501 A1- to clean sealing surface of sump
as shown. Sealant bead must be:
♦ 2 to 3 mm thick
♦ Run bead along inner side of bolt holes -arrows-.
Note
The sealant bead must not be thicker, otherwise excessive seal‐
ant enters the sump and may block the oil suction pipe strainer.
– Apply sealant - D 176 501 A1- as shown in figure to clean
sealing surface of sump.
– Immediately position sump and tighten all sump bolts slightly.
– Tighten sump bolts to 11 Nm.
– Tighten bolts securing sump to gearbox to 45 Nm.
Note
Let sealing compound dry for approx. 30 minutes after installing
oil sump. Only then fill with engine oil.
Further assembly is basically a reverse of the dismantling se‐
quence.

Removing and installing oil pump
Note
To remove the oil pump, the gearbox must be removed.
Procedure:
– Remove gearbox.
– Remove flywheel.
– Remove timing chain cover
– Loosen bolt -arrow- for sprockets about 1 full turn. To do this,
counterhold vibration damper using counterhold - T10172- .
