The example below shows several lines of text each with character spacing problems that
need to be corrected:
In this example, the effects of auto kerning is obvious around the “VA7” letters and you
might also notice the “e” is spaced slightly under the “T” in Text. The problem here is the
spaces around the dash character are too large and need to be reduced. In the second line,
the first “o” is too far under the “T” and the spacing between the 2 o’s appears to be a little
more than desired. In the third line, the 4 is much closer to the 2 than it should be based on
the spacing for the rest of the characters.
Multiple Plates
As the name implies, the multiple plate engraving feature allows you to create many copies
of a job when you are engraving a large quantity of similar plates. Some of the options that
will be discussed include 1) multiple plates a single sheet of material, 2) multiples of
individual plates (batch multiple), 3) merging text in multiple plates, 4) serialization in multiple
plates.
An important production tool for many engravers is the ability to quickly and easily produce
multiple copies of a layout for engraving. Often, the most profitable jobs involve quantities of
similar plaques, tags, labels, or trophy plates, perhaps customized with unique information
on each plate. It is extremely important to be able to quickly, easily, and accurately create
these jobs in the software for engraving. Vision Pro offers a very easy to use and powerful
multiple plate feature that makes this type of layout quick and easy to create.
With the multiple plate features in Vision Pro, you can:

Create almost any number of plates to engrave on one or more larger sheets of material
or individually for pre-cut plates.

Merge in unique text information on each plate such as names, titles, location numbers,
etc. Text can be typed in on the fly or read from a text file created with Windows Notepad
or a similar text editor.
· Create cut lines on multiple plate layouts for use with a shear or let the engraver cut out
the plates for you.
· Generate and merge simple or complex serial numbers automatically into the plates.

Multiple pages can be created when you have more plates to create than can be fitted
onto a single sheet of engraving stock.
