CAUTION! This device is designed to operate indoors.
The design is assumed to be safe, protection measures and
additional safety systems are used, nevertheless there is always a
small risk of operational injuries.
CONSTRUCTION AND USE
Wet/dry bench grinder is driven by a single-phase induction motor. The
tool features I insulation class. The wet/dry bench grinder features two
grinding wheels, one for dry and one for wet operation. Wet grinding
wheel (whetstone) diameter is greater and it rotates at slower rotational
speed; it ensures fine processing. Dry grinding wheel is designed for
coarse processing. The wet/dry bench grinder is designed for surface
processing and sharpening.
The wet/dry bench grinder is designed for light- and medium-duty
household works. It is not intended for professional use. The grinder
is perfect for sharpening tools such as drills, chisels, knives, cutters,
shears, axes and other tools with blades. The wet/dry bench grinder is
not designed for continuous use and it should not be used for more
than
3
0 minutes at a time. After operation at full load for this amount of
time, switch off the grinder and wait until it cooles down to the ambient
temperature.
Range of use covers repair and building works, metal works and any
work from the scope of individual, amateur activities (tinkering).
Use the tool according to the manufacturer’s instructions only!

PREPARATION FOR OPERATION
WET/DRY GRINDER INSTALLATION ON A WORKSHOP BENCH
Four rubber pads (
9
) help to limit vibrations and sound transfer. It is
recommended to firmly fix the wet/dry grinder to a workbench with the
use fixing points designed for such purpose. They are located in the wet/
dry bench grinder base (fixing bolts are not included) and guarantee
safe operation. Fixing holes are located in the wet/dry grinder base. The
holes allow to use screws or bolts with diameters up to 6 mm.
INSTALLATION AND ADJUSTMENT OF EYE SHIELD AND SPARK
SHIELD
Prior to fixing of support for eye shield ensure the wet/dry bench
grinder is switched off and that its plug is removed from mains
socket. Ensure the eye shield (3) is installed properly before each
use of the wet/dry bench grinder.
•
Use supplied screw, nut and washers and install eye shield (
3
) on the
spark shield (
2
).
•
Attach spark shield (
2
) to the wheel cover (
7
)
(
fig. A
).
•
Adjust height and angle of the eye shield so it matches operator and
type of work performed.
•
Set the spark shield (
2
) to desired position.
•
Turn the grinding wheel by hand to ensure it has no contact with the
spark shield (
2
).
•
Firmly tighten the fixing bolt.
Spark shield should be adjusted so its lower edge is 2 mm from
the grinding wheel surface. It is necessary to occasionally correct
position of the spark shield, to compensate wear of the grinding
wheel.
INSTALLATION OF THE WORKREST
Prior to fixing the workrest ensure the whet/dry grinder is switched
off and that its plug is removed from mains socket.
It is necessary to use workrest (
6
) with every high speed grinding wheel
to help in grinding tasks. Never use the grinder without workrest or with
workrest improperly adjusted.
•
Install workrest (
6
) to inner wall of grinding wheel cover with the use
of supplied bolt and washers (
fig. B
).
•
Move the workrest (
6
) to a distance not greater than 1.
5
mm from the
grinding wheel.
•
Turn the grinding wheel by hand to ensure it has no contact with the
workrest.
OPERATION / SETTINGS
CONNECTING TO POWER SUPPLY NETWORK
Prior to connecting to power supply ensure the network voltage
matches the voltage given on the rating plate of the wet/dry bench
grinder. Wet/dry grinder is a class I device (grounded) and thus it
is equipped with three core power supply cable and a plug with
ground terminal.
SWITCHING ON / SWITCHING OFF
Switching on
– press the switch button (
8
) to position
I
.
Switching on
– press the switch button (
8
) to position
O
.
GRINDING
Before using the wet/dry bench grinder ensure the eye shield
(3) and workrest (6) are installed and properly adjusted, and that
operator uses personal protection measures for eyes, hearing and
respiratory system protection.
Disconnect the tool from power supply.
•
Turn the dry grinding wheel (
4
) by hand to ensure it has no contact
with the shield and is free to rotate.
•
Switch on the wet/dry grinder by pressing the switch button (
8
), wait
until the motor reaches its maximum rotational speed.
•
Press the processed material against the workrest (
6
) and move it
towards the grinding wheel. Hold small objects with pliers.
•
When the grinding causes considerable loss of motor speed, move the
processed material away from the grinding wheel and allow the motor
to reach its maximum speed, then proceed with grinding using lower
pressure of processed material to the grinding wheel.
When grinding use only front surface of the grinding wheel, never
side surfaces. Remember that processed material may heat up very
strongly. Cooling the processed material by immersing it in coolant
or water may be necessary. Do not cool the dry grinding wheel
with coolant or water. As the grinding wheel wears off readjust
the workrest so the distance between its edge and the wheel is
not greater than 1.5 mm. Ensure the grinded object does not fall
out of your hands and does not jam between the workrest and
the grinding wheel. It may cause the grinding wheel to crack or
personal injuries.
SHARPENING
Wet grinding wheel (whetstone) rotates at lower speed than dry
grinding wheel; it ensures finer processing of surface.
•
Place the drain plug (
10
) in the water container (
11
) hole (drain plug is
also the point of support for the water container).
•
Pour appropriate amount of water into water container (
11
) (the
bottom part of the grinding wheel must be immersed).
•
Start up the grinder and proceed with sharpening; guide the sharpened
object on the whole front surface of the wet grinding wheel.
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
Always switch off the wet/dry grinder with switch button and
unplug the power cord from the mains socket before commencing
any activities related to adjustment, repair or maintenance.
