11.2 Removing a Sun StorEdge FC Switch
1. Identify which Sun StorEdge network FC switch-16 switch must be replaced.
2. Verify that the hosts that were connected to this switch have their path changed to
the other switch.
Note –
The Sun StorEdge network FC switch-16 switches are not hot swappable.
3. Open the back door of the system.
4. Open the service panel.
5. Power off the switch to be removed.
There are two power supplies and both must be powered off.
6. Disconnect the two power cables from the switch.
7. Remove the gigabit interface converters (GBICs) from the ports and make a note
of the port numbers where the GBICs were inserted.
8. Unscrew the two keeper screws on the back of the Sun StorEdge network FC
switch-16 switch.
9. Open the front door.
10. At the front of the system, remove the grill that covers the switch and set it aside.
11. Remove the two screws that connect the switch to the Sun StorEdge 6320 system.
12. Remove the switch by sliding it out the front of the cabinet.
13. Identify and note the media access control (MAC) address for the removed switch.
The MAC address for the Sun StorEdge network FC switch-16 switches is a 12-digit
number that is printed on the label on the back of the switch.
