Displaying the
Cross Section
of Objects
The ȱ Section ȱ feature ȱ enables ȱ you ȱ to ȱ view ȱ the ȱ interior ȱ of ȱ an ȱ object ȱ by ȱ “slicing” ȱ
it ȱ on ȱ any ȱ axis. ȱ You ȱ can ȱ then ȱ manipulate ȱ the ȱ object ȱ to ȱ inspect ȱ the ȱ interior ȱ
from ȱ different ȱ angles. ȱ This ȱ may ȱ be ȱ important ȱ for ȱ deciding ȱ on ȱ the ȱ type ȱ of ȱ
support ȱ necessary ȱ when ȱ producing ȱ the ȱ model ȱ (see ȱ “Choosing ȱ the ȱ Support ȱ
Strength” ȱ on ȱ page 52). ȱ Displaying ȱ an ȱ object’s ȱ cross ȱ section ȱ only ȱ affects ȱ how ȱ
the ȱ tray ȱ is ȱ displayed ȱ on ȱ the ȱ screen; ȱ it ȱ does ȱ not ȱ change ȱ the ȱ object ȱ itself.
To display a cross section of the tray:
1. From ȱ the ȱ Tools ȱ menu, ȱ select ȱ
Section
.
The ȱ Section ȱ dialog ȱ box ȱ opens.

2. Select ȱ Enable Clipping .
3. Use ȱ the ȱ slider ȱ controls ȱ for ȱ the ȱ X Ȭ , ȱ Y Ȭ , ȱ and ȱ Z Ȭ axes ȱ to ȱ cut ȱ the ȱ tray ȱ so ȱ that ȱ
you ȱ see ȱ the ȱ cross ȱ section ȱ you ȱ want.
