Copying and
Pasting
Objects
If ȱ you ȱ need ȱ to ȱ duplicate ȱ objects ȱ on ȱ the ȱ build ȱ tray, ȱ you ȱ can ȱ insert ȱ the ȱ same ȱ
object ȱ from ȱ its ȱ file ȱ more ȱ than ȱ once. ȱ An ȱ easier ȱ way, ȱ however, ȱ is ȱ to ȱ copy ȱ and ȱ
paste ȱ the ȱ object. ȱ You ȱ can ȱ copy ȱ objects ȱ from ȱ the ȱ build ȱ tray ȱ or ȱ the ȱ model ȱ
tree—individual ȱ or ȱ multiple ȱ parts ȱ or ȱ assemblies. ȱ The ȱ objects ȱ copied ȱ remain ȱ
in ȱ the ȱ Windows ȱ clipboard ȱ until ȱ you ȱ paste ȱ them ȱ onto ȱ the ȱ build ȱ tray. ȱ
You ȱ can ȱ also ȱ copy ȱ objects ȱ from ȱ one ȱ tray ȱ and ȱ paste ȱ them ȱ onto ȱ another, ȱ in ȱ the ȱ
same ȱ way ȱ as ȱ you ȱ copy ȱ text ȱ from ȱ one ȱ document ȱ and ȱ paste ȱ it ȱ into ȱ another ȱ
one. ȱ However, ȱ Objet ȱ Studio ȱ allows ȱ only ȱ one ȱ tray ȱ to ȱ be ȱ open ȱ at ȱ a ȱ time. ȱ For ȱ
each ȱ build ȱ tray ȱ you ȱ need ȱ to ȱ work ȱ with ȱ (at ȱ the ȱ same ȱ time), ȱ you ȱ must ȱ open ȱ a ȱ
separate ȱ Objet ȱ Studio ȱ window, ȱ by ȱ running ȱ the ȱ application ȱ again ȱ (from ȱ the ȱ
Windows ȱ Start ȱ menu).
You ȱ perform ȱ the ȱ Copy ȱ and ȱ Paste ȱ commands ȱ as ȱ in ȱ other ȱ Windows ȱ
applications:
•
from ȱ the ȱ right Ȭ click ȱ context ȱ menu.
•
by ȱ using ȱ keyboard ȱ shortcuts ȱ (Ctrl+C ȱ and ȱ Ctrl+V, ȱ respectively).
The ȱ Paste ȱ Special ȱ command ȱ (from ȱ the ȱ object’s ȱ right Ȭ click ȱ context ȱ menu) ȱ
enables ȱ you ȱ to ȱ place ȱ duplicate ȱ objects ȱ even ȱ more ȱ efficiently:
•
You ȱ can ȱ specify ȱ the ȱ number ȱ of ȱ duplicates ȱ to ȱ place ȱ on ȱ the ȱ build ȱ tray ȱ at ȱ
once.
•
You ȱ can ȱ set ȱ the ȱ distance, ȱ on ȱ each ȱ axis, ȱ between ȱ the ȱ duplicate ȱ objects.
•
You ȱ can ȱ manipulate ȱ mirror ȱ images ȱ of ȱ the ȱ original ȱ object, ȱ and ȱ flip ȱ them ȱ
on ȱ selected ȱ axes.

Having multiple Objet Studio windows open can be convenient when you
need to manipulate or configure objects before inserting them in your
production build tray. For example, if you need to change the model material
of an object (saved as an
objdf file) to match the model material already
used in the production build tray, you must do so before inserting the
object—on another tray. Copying and pasting also allows you to use objects
already configured on previously-used build trays for newer projects.
