To ȱ clean ȱ a ȱ model ȱ using ȱ this ȱ device, ȱ you ȱ place ȱ it ȱ in ȱ the ȱ chamber, ȱ and ȱ you ȱ
manipulate ȱ it ȱ and ȱ the ȱ jet ȱ using ȱ the ȱ built Ȭ in, ȱ waterproof ȱ sleeves. ȱ A ȱ pump ȱ
turns ȱ ordinary ȱ tap ȱ water ȱ into ȱ a ȱ high Ȭ pressure ȱ jet, ȱ and ȱ a ȱ wiper ȱ keeps ȱ the ȱ
window ȱ clear.

Caustic Soda
Soak ȱ models ȱ in ȱ a ȱ 1 Ȭ percent ȱ solution ȱ of ȱ caustic ȱ soda ȱ (sodium ȱ hydroxide) ȱ to ȱ
remove ȱ support ȱ material ȱ from ȱ difficult Ȭ to Ȭ reach ȱ areas ȱ and ȱ to ȱ give ȱ the ȱ
model ȱ a ȱ smooth, ȱ clean ȱ finish. ȱ The ȱ amount ȱ of ȱ time ȱ you ȱ soak ȱ the ȱ model ȱ in ȱ the ȱ
solution ȱ depends ȱ on ȱ how ȱ delicate ȱ it ȱ is ȱ and ȱ how ȱ much ȱ support ȱ material ȱ
needs ȱ to ȱ be ȱ removed, ȱ but ȱ it ȱ is ȱ typically ȱ between ȱ half Ȭ an Ȭ hour ȱ and ȱ several ȱ
hours. ȱ In ȱ any ȱ case, ȱ you ȱ should ȱ remove ȱ as ȱ much ȱ support ȱ material ȱ as ȱ
possible ȱ before ȱ the ȱ caustic ȱ soda ȱ treatment, ȱ and ȱ rinse ȱ the ȱ model ȱ thoroughly ȱ
(with ȱ a ȱ water ȱ jet) ȱ afterwards. ȱ
Use caution when cleaning delicate models with high-pressure water systems.
WARNING: Caustic soda may cause chemical burns, scarring and
blindness. Mixing it with water generates heat that could ignite other
materials. Never pour water into a caustic soda solution. When diluting
the solution, always add caustic soda to water. Take adequate safety
precautions; always use nitrile gloves when handling caustic soda and
models soaked in it.
