Positioning Objects on the Build Tray
To ȱ produce ȱ models ȱ efficiently ȱ and ȱ with ȱ the ȱ required ȱ finish, ȱ it ȱ is ȱ important ȱ
to ȱ carefully ȱ position ȱ objects ȱ on ȱ the ȱ build ȱ tray. ȱ Objet ȱ Studio ȱ supports ȱ the ȱ
automatic ȱ positioning ȱ of ȱ objects. ȱ However, ȱ you ȱ should ȱ check ȱ to ȱ make ȱ sure ȱ
that ȱ the ȱ objects ȱ are ȱ orientated ȱ optimally ȱ for ȱ your ȱ needs, ȱ according ȱ to ȱ the ȱ
considerations ȱ explained ȱ in ȱ “Model ȱ Orientation” ȱ on ȱ page 26.
Two ȱ things ȱ that ȱ affect ȱ the ȱ positioning ȱ of ȱ objects ȱ on ȱ the ȱ build ȱ tray ȱ are ȱ
orientation ȱ and ȱ placement. ȱ You ȱ can ȱ let ȱ Objet ȱ Studio ȱ determine ȱ the ȱ optimum ȱ
orientation ȱ and ȱ position, ȱ or ȱ you ȱ can ȱ control ȱ them.
Automatic
Orientation
By ȱ default, ȱ Objet ȱ Studio ȱ automatically ȱ orients ȱ objects, ȱ when ȱ placed ȱ on ȱ the ȱ
build ȱ tray, ȱ for ȱ the ȱ shortest ȱ printing ȱ time. ȱ (You ȱ can ȱ later ȱ change ȱ the ȱ
orientation ȱ manually.) ȱ However, ȱ you ȱ can ȱ cancel ȱ automatic ȱ orientation ȱ
when ȱ placing ȱ an ȱ object ȱ on ȱ the ȱ build ȱ tray.
To place an object on the build tray without automatic orientation:

In ȱ the ȱ Insert ȱ dialog ȱ box, ȱ make ȱ sure ȱ Orient ȱ Automatically ȱ is ȱ not ȱ selected.

You can change the default setting, so that automatic orientation is not
applied unless you select the Orient Automatically check box each time you
place an object on the build tray. To do this, see “Default Settings” on
page 63.
