Stratasys P750K User Guide
This ȱ setting ȱ enables ȱ the ȱ Stratasys ȱ software ȱ to ȱ determine ȱ (just ȱ before ȱ
printing) ȱ the ȱ most ȱ efficient ȱ way ȱ to ȱ print ȱ the ȱ tray. ȱ Digital ȱ Material ȱ mode ȱ
is ȱ used ȱ if ȱ this ȱ removes ȱ the ȱ need ȱ to ȱ perform ȱ the ȱ Material ȱ Replacement ȱ
procedure. ȱ Otherwise, ȱ High ȱ Speed ȱ mode ȱ is ȱ used.
For ȱ example, ȱ if ȱ printing ȱ the ȱ tray ȱ requires ȱ only ȱ one ȱ of ȱ the ȱ model ȱ
materials ȱ loaded ȱ in ȱ the ȱ printer, ȱ only ȱ the ȱ two ȱ print ȱ heads ȱ using ȱ that ȱ
material ȱ are ȱ used ȱ to ȱ print ȱ models—Digital ȱ Material ȱ mode. ȱ (High ȱ
Quality ȱ and ȱ High ȱ Speed ȱ modes ȱ call ȱ for ȱ printing ȱ model ȱ material ȱ with ȱ
four ȱ heads, ȱ which ȱ would ȱ require ȱ you ȱ to ȱ perform ȱ the ȱ Material ȱ
Replacement ȱ procedure.)
On ȱ the ȱ other ȱ hand, ȱ if ȱ printing ȱ the ȱ tray ȱ can ȱ be ȱ done ȱ using ȱ four ȱ print ȱ
heads ȱ without ȱ running ȱ the ȱ Material ȱ Replacement ȱ procedure, ȱ High ȱ
Speed ȱ mode ȱ is ȱ used. ȱ This ȱ is ȱ possible ȱ if ȱ all ȱ print ȱ heads ȱ are ȱ supplied ȱ with ȱ
one ȱ model ȱ material, ȱ or ȱ if ȱ you ȱ allow ȱ printing ȱ with ȱ an ȱ arbitrary ȱ mixture ȱ
of ȱ similar ȱ materials ȱ (see ȱ below).

If ȱ you ȱ allow ȱ the ȱ use ȱ of ȱ substitute ȱ model ȱ materials, ȱ the ȱ printer ȱ will ȱ use ȱ
different ȱ materials ȱ whose ȱ characteristics ȱ (strength, ȱ flexibility, ȱ etc.) ȱ are ȱ
similar ȱ to ȱ those ȱ of ȱ the ȱ material ȱ you ȱ assigned ȱ to ȱ the ȱ object ȱ when ȱ
designing ȱ the ȱ build ȱ tray—under ȱ the ȱ following ȱ conditions:

The ȱ material ȱ you ȱ assigned ȱ is ȱ not ȱ installed ȱ in ȱ the ȱ printer ȱ at ȱ the ȱ time ȱ
of ȱ printing.
In ȱ this ȱ case, ȱ the ȱ tray ȱ is ȱ printed ȱ with ȱ either ȱ one ȱ or ȱ two ȱ substitute ȱ
materials ȱ (depending ȱ on ȱ the ȱ materials ȱ installed ȱ in ȱ the ȱ printer ȱ at ȱ the ȱ
time ȱ of ȱ printing). ȱ If ȱ possible, ȱ High ȱ Speed ȱ mode ȱ is ȱ used.

In ȱ addition ȱ to ȱ the ȱ material ȱ you ȱ selected, ȱ there ȱ is ȱ another ȱ (similar) ȱ
material ȱ installed ȱ in ȱ the ȱ printer ȱ at ȱ the ȱ time ȱ of ȱ printing.
In ȱ this ȱ case, ȱ High ȱ Speed ȱ mode ȱ is ȱ used, ȱ by ȱ printing ȱ with ȱ a ȱ mixture ȱ of ȱ
the ȱ two ȱ materials ȱ (as ȱ if ȱ they ȱ were ȱ the ȱ same ȱ material).
Model Quality When Digital Material Mode is Used

Near-high-quality is achieved for most models.
¾
If all objects on the tray are inserted from individual stl files , they are
printed with the standard resolution of 600 dpi (dots per inch) along the
Y-axis—unless glossy finish is required (see “Surface Finish” on page 23).
¾
If there is an assembly on the tray, all of the models on the tray are
printed with a resolution of 300 dpi along the Y-axis.
