USING THE AUTOFOCUS
The autofocus will work in almost all occasion; however, there are certain conditions that may
cause the autofocus function not to work properly.

Conditions that may cause incorrect focus
The following examples are some of the situations where the autofocus function may not
work.
œ
Subjects with low contrast or very bright subjects at the center
of the image
Use the focus-lock function (see pages 54 and 55) to lock the
focus on a subject with contrast at the same distance as the
desired subject.
œ
Subjects without vertical lines
Use the focus-lock function to lock the focus on the subject
while holding the digital camera vertically.
The following examples are some of the situations where the autofocus function may work,
but not as desired.
œ
When near and far objects are present
Use the focus-lock function to lock the focus on a subject at
the same distance as the desired subject.
œ
Fast moving subjects
Use the focus-lock function to lock the focus on a subject at
the same distance as the desired subject.

About sequential shots
œ
During sequential shots, the autofocus function will work when the shutter release button is
pressed and lock the focus.
