INSTALLING AND REMOVING THE CARDS

The images and audio recordings recorded by your digital camera are stored on the data storage
card installed in the digital camera. You must install a card before you can capture images. For
more information on handling the cards, see “Cautions when handling the CompactFlash or
Microdrive” on page 13 and “Cautions when using the Microdrive” on page 139. Before using a
card for the first time, format it using the digital camera (see page 126).

Installing a Card

Confirm that the power is turned off.

œ

Press the power button to turn off the camera.

œ

When the power is turned off, the stand-by indicator
turns off. In addition, if the lens is protruding, it
automatically retracts and closes.

Open the card slot cover.

Insert the card.

œ

Insert the card from the connector side, in the direction
shown by the arrow (

d

mark).

œ

Be sure to insert the card all the way until it is fully
inserted.

Push down the eject button and close the card slot
cover.

œ

When a card is inserted, the eject button will stand up.
Push down the eject button in the direction indicated by
the arrow.
