If the tape had peeled back the top corner(s) fo the major flaps on the
leading edge of the box …
1.
Verify excessive wipe-down roller pressure is not causing the end wall of the
box to collapse.
a.
Reduce the roller spring force.
2.
Verify the box is not out of square as it enters the tape head area.
a.
Make adjustments so the box enters the tape head area squarely.
3.
Verify the tape head is not too high about the box.
4.
Adjust the tape head so that it is 1/8" or less away from the top or bottom of
the box.
If the major flaps are not held down tightly or are tented at the center of
the box …
1.
Verify the tape tension is high enough to pull the flaps down.
a.
Adjust the main tape tension adjustment at the one-way clutch roller.
2.
Verify the tape head is not too high about the box.
a.
Adjust the tape head so that it is 1/8" or less away from the top or
bottom of the box.
If crinkles appear in the leading edge of the major flaps on top of the box
…
1.
Verify the tape head is not too close to the box.
a.
Raise the tape head up slightly.
2.
Check fr hang-ups or obstructions on the tape head or tape head mounting.
3.
Verify the tape head is level and parallel to the machine frame.
a.
Adjust and level the tape head mounting bracket to a level and straight
position.
