INLET MANIFOLD

To Remove

Drain the cooling system.

2 .

Remove the

outer cover.

Disconnect the water hoses from the manifold.

Disconnect the breather pipe from the flame trap at the rear end o f the

box backplate. Disconnect the throttle and choke

and the vacuum

pipes.

Disconnect the fuel feed pipe t o the carburetters, and

fit

plug t o main fuel

pipe to prevent fuel draining from the tank.

Release the nuts and washers securing

manifold, and remove manifold.

Further dismantling of

such as removing the carburetters, may

be carried out

desired on the bench.

Replace

Reverse the removal procedure, but use a new gasket. Tighten a l l

t o

the specified torque

(see TECHNICAL DATA).

SUMP

To Remove

G a i n access t o the sump by using a ramp, p i t or jacks.

Using a suitable receptacle, release the drain plug and allow o i l to drain

the sump. Remove the

From around the

the

remove the setscrews and

their plain washers, securing the sump

its gasket to the main bearing

housing. Remove the sump b y t i l t i n g i t

towards the exhaust side o f

the engine i n order to clear the o i l strainer ond pick-up pipe assembly (this

being attached to the underside o f the main bearing housing).

Thoroughly clean out any sludge which

have collected i n the sump,

BEFORE

replacing the sump.
