lace  the remainder  o f  the removed parts by reversing  the removal 

procedure. 

WATER 

PUMP 

To Remove 

1. 

Drain 

cooling system. 

2. 

Remove  the 

'V

1 

belts. 

3. 

Release the  clips and remove a l l  hoses  from the water pump housing. 

4. 

Release  the bolts and remove bolts arid washers together  w i t h  the water  pump 

housing and gasket.  Discard the gasket.  Note that  on some  engines  i t  may 

be necessary  to first remove the auxiliary shaft  pulley, 

order  t o  gain 

access to the water  pump  retaining bolts. 

5. 

the water pump  assembly  on o bench,  remove  the pulley and hub using a 

suitable press.

theretore, 

further dismantling

unnecessary. 

To  Replace 

1. 

Measure  the distance  between  the body 

surface and 

hub mounting 

surface  of the old water pump,  see  figure 

19. 

2 .  

Apply Loctite 

RC35 

t o  the  front  o f  

bearing  shaft  or  inside pulley hub, 

then press  on the 

'V' 

pulley hub  to the dimerisiori of the old pump. 

3. 

Support  the pump shaft  while pressing on  the hub and also 

the 

to housing  clearance,  see  figure 

19. 

Refit  the pulley. 

4. 

Using a new gasket,  t o  which a suitable  joiriting  compound has  been used  on 

both sides,  refit the 

assembly  to the engine,  tightening a l l  bolts to 

the 

specified  i n  TECHNICAL DATA. 

5. 

Replace a l l  hoses  and 

a l l  securing  clips. 

6. 

Replace the 

belts. 

7. 

Refill  the cooling 

check  for water  leaks'with  the  engine  running. 

Check a l l  hose  clips and drain taps are tight.
