SRS components and functions
The supplemental restraint system
(SRS)
includes the following
components:
-Airbagmodule(main/auxiliarymodules)
-Safety belt pre-tensioner
-SRS control members (SRSCM)
-SRS airbag alarm lamp (SRI)
When the ignition switch turns to "ON",
SRSCM will continuously monitor
possible frontal collisions and decide
whether it is necessary to trigger
airbags.
When the ignition key turns to "ON", or
the engine is started, the SRS indicator
lamp (SRI) on the instrument board will
flash 6s and then go out.
When SRSCM senses a strong frontal
collision, it will activate airbags to
automatically inflate. Fully inflated
airbags and proper safety belts will
slow and hold the forward movement
of the driver and passengers. That will
help prevent head or chest from
getting
huge injured. After fully
inflated, airbags will soon shrink to
provide the driver broad front eyeshot.
How does SRS work ？
When a strong frontal collision occurs,
SRS will sense the sharp vehicle
deceleration. In such case, it will
promptly activate and inflate airbags.
At the same time, it will also activate
the seat safety belt pre-tensioner.
When a strong frontal collision occurs,
seat
safety belts will help fix
passengers' lower body. Airbags will
absorb energy from the collision to
protect passengers' chest and head.
A fully inflated airbag will instantaneo
-usly deflate the gas. The time interval
between inflation and deflation is
approximately 0.1s. That will provide
the driver broad eyeshot and help the
driver to control the car.
When SRS works, an explosion sound
and smoke will be produced. That is a
normal
phenomenon. The smoke
produced is powder on the airbag. If
