5.6 PERFORMANCE VERIFICATION TEST

DELIVERY ACCURACY TEST
Note: For an alternate method of performing the delivery accuracy test, see
Section
5.6.6.1
.
To perform the delivery accuracy test, proceed as follows:
1. Unlock and open the security door.
2. Press
[ON/OFF]
to power on the infuser.
3. With the cradle in the uppermost position, insert a water-filled, primed LifeCare
PCA vial, injector, and LifeCare PCA set, with an 18-gauge butterfly needle or a
blunt cannula, into the cradle.
4. Squeeze the cradle release mechanism and move the cradle down until the vial
injector snaps into the injector flange retainer.
5. Verify the
SELF TEST COMPLETE
message displays, then press
[CONTINUE]
.
Note: If the infuser is running 7.02 software or higher, the Software Version screen
will display instead of the Self Test Complete screen after the self test
passes. The infuser will automatically transition from the Software Version
screen to the next screen after 5 seconds.
Note: If no history is stored, proceed to Step 7 .
6. Verify the
NEW PATIENT?
message displays, then press
[YES]
. The
HISTORY AND RX
SETTINGS CLEARED
message displays briefly.
7. Verify the
CONFIRM CUSTOM VIAL TO RX
message displays, then press
[CONFIRM]
.
8. Place the butterfly in a 25 mL graduated cylinder.
9. Verify the
SELECT UNITS OF MEASURE
message displays, then press
the
[MILLIGRAMS]
softkey.
KEYPAD Stuck touchswitch test determines if any of the touchswitches are permanently
shorted
Press individual touchswitches to determine if the touchswitch operates
and the microcomputer recognizes the correct touchswitch
Tests the patient pendant push button
DOOR Test verifies the microcomputer recognizes when the security door is locked
or unlocked
SYRINGE Test verifies the microcomputer can detect the presence and proper positioning
of the vial and injector in the syringe driver mechanism
EMPTY SYRINGE Test verifies the microcomputer detects an empty syringe
ALARM Audible alarm signal is generated to verify the alarm circuitry
ROTATION Motor is rotated a given amount and the shaft sensor signal is checked by the motor
control circuitry
BARCODE Test verifies the barcode reader is functioning
