DISINFECTING
THE
VIAL
COMPARTMENT
The precision mechanisms located behind the vial compartment door include pins and
sensors that can be damaged by rough handling. For this reason, the components in the
vial compartment
(
)
should only be disinfected by personnel who are aware
of how the infuser operates and can take proper precautions.
To disinfect the vial compartment door and receptacle:
1. Open the vial compartment door.
2. Clean the barcode reader window.
- Using CleanTex CT 811 OpticPad surface cleaner or a streak-free glass cleaner
clean the bar code reader window. Wipe until visibly clean. Use additional tissues
as needed.
- To prevent fluid ingress, do not spray fluids or solutions on the barcode reader
window, and press lightly on the barcode reader window while disinfecting.
3. Using swabs, carefully disinfect the cradle release mechanism, vial cradle, vial
cradle clips, injector flange retainer, including the vial and injector sensor pins;
without tilting the infuser backwards
.

If a sensor pin is damaged or broken off, replace the infusion mechanism
assembly

4. Using lint-free cloths dampened in the approved disinfecting solution

or wipes, disinfect the interior surface of the vial compartment.

TO PREVENT FLUID INGRESS, DO NOT SPRAY FLUIDS OR
DISINFECTING SOLUTIONS ON THE BAR CODE READER WINDOW AND
PRESS LIGHTLY ON THE BAR CODE READER WIND OW WHILE
