4. Use a brush to remove debris and then moist swabs to clean any openings or hard
to reach areas in the highlighted region in Figure 5-4 .
Note: Do not allow cleaning fluid to flow into door lock opening or Vial Cradle
track opening.

CLEANING THE VIAL COMPARTMENT
Spilled fluid that is not cleaned properly and promptly at the patient site may accumulate
and dry. If sticky or high-viscosity fluids are spilled in the vial compartment, clean the
infuser as soon as possible. Dried, built-up residue from these types of fluids can affect
the operation of the vial sensor pin, injector sensor pin, and cradle mechanism. Dried fluid
on the injector flange retainer can also affect the way the injector fits. Fluid or contaminates
on the infuser's barcode reader window can prevent the barcode reader from operating.
The precision mechanisms located behind the vial door include parts and sensors that
can be damaged by rough handling and fluid ingress. For this reason, the components in
the vial compartment
( see Figure 5-5 ) should only be cleaned as follows:
1. When cleaning the bar code reader, use recommended CleanTex CT 811 OpticPad
Optic Surface Cleaner, or a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with a streak-free optical
glass cleaner.
CAUTION: TO AVOID FLUID INGRESS, DO NOT SPRAY FLUIDS OR
CLEANING SOLUTIONS ON THE BAR CODE READER WINDOW AND PRESS
LIGHTLY ON THE BAR CODE READER WINDOW WHILE CLEANING.
