Repair and Service Manual

Read all of Section B and this section before attempting any procedure. Pay particular attention to all Notes, Cautions and Warnings

Engine Removal

Remove the bolts (item 1) using 5/8" impact socket
securing engine (item 4) to subframe (item 5) (Ref Fig.
17 on page H-10). Remove the nuts (item 2) and remove
the washers (item 3). 

Wear a personal back support brace and use proper lift-
ing technique before attempting to lift engine. With a per-
son on each side of vehicle, rotate and lean engine back
to position the muffler down, where the driven clutch was,
and carefully maneuver engine out of vehicle.

If replacing engine:

•

Remove choke/governor cable bracket from old
engine. Detach governor cable and choke link
from carburetor.
