Operating the analyzer with high salt loads
Completely diverse salt loads can occur given the different range of applications of the analyzer. For
the user, this can mean that the salt load reduction function has to be optimized. The sample flow
and thus the salt load can be reduced with dosing pump P2.
If the reduction in pump P2 dosing does not have the desired effect, the salt load can be minimized
via optional upstream dilution of the sample (Hauser Service).
Dilution ratios between 1:5 to 1:20 are possible. The effective TOC concentration in the diluted
wastewater should be inside the measuring range of the analyzer.

Adjusting the gas flow

Note!
When operating the analyzer, only use tonnage oxygen (gas in cylinders) or air free from carbon
dioxide. Primary pressure at the manometer: 2 bar (29 psi)
Setting the stripping gas dosing valve
The flow is adjusted and set at the dosing valve for stripping gas during commissioning. The flow
range is 50 to 300 ml/min (0.8 to 4.7 gal/hr).
The necessary minimum flow depends on:
• The value level to be measured
• The feed rate of P1
• The TIC contents
Proceed as follows to find the optimum setting:
1.
Start the analyzer with the factory setting.
2.
Adjust the analyzer.
3.
On the following day, feed in a wastewater sample via the "online sample/manual sample"
valve (the sample has to be stirred if the sample is not homogeneous).
4.
If the measured value is stable over two measuring cycles, increase the setting for the dosing
valve by one unit. If the measured value still drops after two measuring cycles, increase the
dosing valve setting by one more unit. The stripping gas is optimized once no further change
in the measured value can be observed.
Setting the carrier gas dosing valve
The dosing valve for carrier gas is open to the maximum. The flow rate is approx. 500 ml/min
(8 gal/hr) at a primary pressure of 2 bar (29 psi).
Circuit gas
The flowmeter for the circuit gas cannot be adjusted. It is used to perform function checks. The flow
rate should be approx. 0.7 to 1.2 l/min (11 to 19 gal/hr) during operation.
