Maintenance
This section contains procedures for the access, removal, and replacement and
maintenance of field serviceable components and assemblies of the plasma-
generating system.
6.5.1
Repairing RF Generator
Due to design changes to the RF generator, it has become a modular assembly within
the ICP-MS. Do not attempt repairs to the RF generator in the field.
6.5.2
Repairing DC Power Supply
The DC power supply is an OEM product and is supplied by Redline Technologies. It
has no field repairable parts and in the event of failure must be replaced.
6.5.3
Maintaining Translator Platform
Design changes on the translator functionality are significant on the PQMS ICP-MS.
Rather than using a typical lead-screw design, the Y-axis and Z-axis functions employ
a drive mechanism with built-in opto circuitry. If they are ever replaced, they are
automatically calibrated during “power-up” of the ICP-MS. Neither of the drive
mechanisms requires maintenance.
