2.
Remove turbo pump # 1 – refer to vacuum section 7.5.1, page 106 on how to
remove turbo # 1.
3.
Remove the ion mirror, refer to mass spectrometer section 8.7.4, page 152 on how
to remove ion mirror. Note: remember to place ion mirror on a clean surface and
protect from damage.
4.
Turn on the instrument power.
5.
Satisfy turbo # 1 interlock using proper fitting tool – take care not to damage
interlock switches.
6.
In the ‚vacuum‘ tab of the Aspect MS software (use CTRL+D and password „koala“
to enter service mode), select ‚open gate valve‘ and hit apply.
7.
Remove the tool fitted in the turbo # 1 interlock, and observe the closing of the
gate valve (Repeat steps 5-7 to observe closing again).
8.
Fine tune gate valve adjustment screws to 0.2 N-m using a calibrated torque
wrench at gate valve closed position, and repeat steps 5-7 to check closing motion.
9.
Replace ion mirror, turbo # 1 (using above sections as a reference), and initiate
vacuum sequence.
10.
Monitor gauge 1, gauge 2 (if installed) and turbo # 1 parameters to inspect for
vacuum leaks.
NOTE
The mechanism should travel smoothly along the rails until the door O-ring begins
to contact the casting. This should cause the mechanism to slow down as the hinges
lock in place.
If the two tension screws are not tight enough, the mechanism will not slow down
as the rollers reach the end of travel and as hinges lock in place. In this case, the O-
ring will not be compressed enough to create an adequate vacuum seal.
If the two tension screws are too tight, the rollers will not reach the end of their
slots in the rails. In this case, the O-ring will not be compressed against the casting,
which creates a vacuum leak.
NOTE
The two gate valve adjustment screws should be set to a torque of 0.2 Nm.

Removing and Maintaining the iCRC Box Assembly
1.
Ensure the vacuum is vented and the instrument power is off
2.
Disconnect the connections as shown in Figure 5-23 (red arrows)
3.
Remove the assembly by loosening the screws shown in Figure 5-23 (blue arrows)
4.
Lift and pull away the assembly, and set on a clean and stable surface
