Introduction

Always ensure that the power source is disconnected before working on the cooling
system. Spilling water on live electrical circuitry could cause death or severe
electrical shock.
Never locate gas cylinders near an ignition source or in a position subjected to
direct heat.
Contact with some solutions and materials can cause injury to skin and eyes. To
avoid injury, always wear gloves and eye protection whilst working with these
solutions and materials.
The ICP-MS instrument weighs approximately 170 kg (375 lbs). Use proper
manual handling practices when maneuvering it. If lifting is required, use
appropriate mechanical lifting equipment.
Care must be taken when working with glass parts to avoid breakage and cuts. Use
caution when connecting tubing to the torch, nebulizer and glass barbs and when
removing and replacing pieces of broken glassware.
