Figure 10-5 - RF generating system block diagram
The power and drive signal for the translator stepper motors are provided by the
Filter PCB.
The System Control PCB is interfaced via Filter PCB.
The plasma system RF power is generated using two separate modules, the RF
generator and the Redline DC supply module.
The system control PCB is interfaced directly to the DC power supply and Filter
board.
RF generator gets power from Redline power supply via Filter board (P6).
The generator is water-cooled.
The DC supply is controlled by the System Control Board and produces
approxi190 VDC up to approximately 13 A.
An internal fan provides cooling for the DC supply.
Plasma, auxiliary, nebulizer, Sheath and Nitrox (Elite models only) gas flows are
included in the plasma system.
The system control PCB controls the plasma and auxiliary gas flows via the sample
introduction PCB. The sample introduction PCB is located in the gas box assembly.
Two mass flow controllers control and provide feedback on the nebulizer and
Sheath gas flows. Both MFCs are connected to the system control PCB via SUB-D
15 pole cable.
The MFC for Nitrox gas is controlled by the system control PCB. (Only Elite models)
A series of solenoids control the flow of argon gas through the manifold assembly.
Incorporated into the manifold are a series of ports with differing orifice sizes. The
magnitude of plasma and auxiliary gas flow depends on which orifice is in the flow
path. The solenoids are connected to the sample introduction interface PCB. It
