Cautions
•
Always use the insert assembly in field of view of the
camera and use caution when using other devices so as not
to damage insert assembly insulation.
•
Smoke-plume extraction may be necessary during
electrosurgical cutting or coagulation.
•
Snowden-Pencer insert assemblies should be handled and
operated by health care professionals completely familiar
with their use, assembly, and disassembly.
•
Use of these insert assemblies should be for their intended
surgical purposes only.
•
Use of insert assemblies for a task other than that for which
it is intended can result in a damaged or broken insert
assembly.
•
Insert assembly (including insulation) must be inspected
prior to use to ensure integrity. Insert assembly accessories,
such as electrode cables and endoscopically-used
accessories should be checked for possible damage to the
insulation prior to use.
•
Prior to use, all insert assemblies should be inspected for
cracks, scratches, and/or broken components. Ensure
insulation is intact. Any interruptions in the insulation may
compromise the safety of the insert assembly. To prevent
the possibility of electrical shocks or burns, insert
assemblies with any interruption or cracks in the insulation
or broken components should be returned to Snowden-
Pencer for repair or replacement.
•
Do not use Snowden-Pencer insert assemblies if they do not
perform satisfactorily or fail testing or visual inspection,
which are detailed in the Inspection section of these
instructions.

Recommended separation distances between portable and mobile
RF communications equipment and the insert assembly
The reusable insert assembly is intended for use in an
electromagnetic environment in which radiated RF disturbances
are controlled. The customer or the user of the insert assembly
can help prevent electromagnetic interference by maintaining a
minimum distance between portable and mobile RF
communications equipment (transmitters) and the insert assembly
as recommended below, according to the maximum output power
of the communications equipment.

For transmitters rated at a maximum output power not listed
above, the recommended separation distance d in meters (m) can
be estimated using the equation applicable to the frequency of the
transmitter, where P is the maximum output power rating of the
transmitter in watts (W) according to the transmitter
manufacturer.
Note 1:
At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the separation distance for the
higher frequency range applies.
Note 2:
These guidelines may not apply in all situations.
Electromagnetic propagation is affected by absorption and
reflection from structures, objects and people.
