sensors specified in this manual. Use of other SpO

2

sensors may cause

improper oximeter performance.

•

If the sensor is too tight because the application site is too large or
becomes too large due to edema, excessive pressure for prolonged peri-
ods may result in venous congestion distal from the application site,
leading to interstitial edema and tissue ischemia.

CAUTION

•

Many patients suffer from poor peripheral perfusion due to hypother-
mia, hypovolemia, severe vasoconstriction, reduced cardiac output, etc.
These symptoms may cause a loss in vital sign readings.
