Accessed from the
View | Toolbars
menu option or the icon on the Standard
toolbar.
Use this dialog box to search for specific base sequences and to view quality
parameters. Enter the desired string of bases and mouse click the arrow buttons to
search backwards and forwards through the base sequence text.
To use regular expressions to locate the desired text, use the characters described
below:
To search for the text regardless of case, check the
Ignore Case
checkbox. To search
for the exact match for text (i.e., not IUB codes), check the
Exact Match
checkbox.
To search for text within a range, highlight the range of interest in the base sequence
pane and check the
Search Highlighted Range
checkbox.
Character Description
| The alternation character (|) allows either expression on its side to match the
target string. The expression "a|b" will match ‘a’ as well as ‘b’.
. The dot (.) will match any character.
* The asterisk (*) indicates that the character to the left of the asterisk in the
expression should match 0 or more times.
+ The plus (+) is similar to the asterisk but there should be at least one match of
the character to the left of the + sign in the expression.
? The question mark (?) matches the character to its left 0 or 1 times.
[ ] Brackets ([ and ]) enclosing a set of characters indicates that any of the
enclosed characters may match the target character.
