1B. Remove the shift pedal/footrest assembly as
described in Chapter Seven.
2. Remove the circlip from the pivot pin.
3. Pull the pivot pin from the floorboard and sepa-
rate the floorboard from the bracket. Watch for the
spring.
4. Installation is the reverse of removal. Note the
following.
a. Make sure the pin passes through the spring.
b. The circlip must be completely seated in its
groove on the pivot pin.
PASSENGER FOOTPEGS

1. Remove the passenger footpeg mounting bolts.
2. Lower the footpeg bracket from the frame.
3. If necessary, remove the footpeg as follows:
a. Straighten the cotter pin and remove it from
the pivot pin. Discard the cotter pin.
b. Pull the pivot pin and separate the footpeg
from the bracket.
4. Installation is the reverse of removal. Note the
following:
a. Install a new cotter pin.
b. Torque the passenger footpeg bolts to 26 N•m
(19 ft.-lb.)
SIDESTAND

Removal/Installation
1. Securely support the motorcycle on a level sur-
face.
2. Remove the bracket bolts (A,
Figure 27
) and
lower the sidestand bracket (B) from the frame.
3. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the
sidestand bracket bolts to 64 N•m (47 ft.-lb.)
Disassembly/Assembly
1. Raise the sidestand and use locking pliers to dis-
connect the spring hook (C,

) from the
bracket boss.
2. Remove the self-locking nut from the pivot bolt
