6. If necessary, remove the oil delivery pipe mount-
ing bolt (C,
Figure 53
) at each end of the pipe, and
remove the oil delivery pipe (D) from the crank-
case. Watch for the O-ring (
Figure 54
) behind the
fitting on each end of the pipe.
NOTE
The oil pump drive sprocket is dam
aged during removal. If removed, it
must be replaced.
7. If necessary, use a universal bearing puller to re-
move the oil pump drive sprocket from the crank-
shaft.
8. Installation is the reverse of removal. Note the
following:
a. If removed, install a new oil pump drive
sprocket onto the crankshaft. Apply oil to the
crankshaft and drive the new sprocket into
place with a pipe that matches the inside di-
ameter of the sprocket.
b. Install new oil delivery pipe O-rings (
Figure
54
) and new oil pump O-rings (B,
Figure 53
).
Lubricate each O-ring with lithium soap
grease.
c. Make sure the oil pump properly engages the
dowel (A,
Figure 53
) in the crankcase.
d. Torque the oil delivery pipe mounting bolt (C,
Figure 53
) to 10 N•m (89 in.-lb.). Torque the
oil pump mounting bolts (A,
Figure 52
) to 10
N•m (89 in.-lb.). Torque the oil pump driven
sprocket bolt (A,
Figure 51
) to 12 N•m (106
in.-lb.). Torque the oil pump sprocket cover
bolts (A,
Figure 50
) to 10 N•m (89 in.-lb.).
Disassembly/Inspection/Assembly
Refer to
Figure 55
.
CAUTION
Be careful when removing the oil
strainer. A replacement strainer is not
available. If the strainer is damaged,
the oil pump must be replaced.
1. If necessary, carefully remove the oil strainer
(
Figure 56
) by prying at one of the four pry points.
2. Remove the oil pump guide (
Figure 57
) from
the primary housing.
3. Remove the Phillips screw (A,
Figure 58
) from
the oil pump cover (B).
