able. Coat the inside of the cylinder with fresh brake
fluid prior to assembling the parts.
1B. When installing a new master cylinder kit, soak
the new primary and secondary cups in brake fluid
for at least 15 minutes. Roll the primary cup (A,
Figure 67
) onto the inboard end of the piston; roll
the secondary cup (B) onto the outboard end.
2. If removed, install the narrow end of the spring
(C,
Figure 67
) onto the master piston.
CAUTION
When installing the piston assembly,
do not allow the cups to turn inside
out. This will damage the cups and al
low brake fluid to leak within the cyl
inder bore.
3. Install the piston/spring assembly (B,
Figure 66
)
into the master cylinder.
4. Place a dab of grease on the end of the pushrod
(A,
Figure 68
), and slowly push the spring and pis-
ton into the master cylinder with the pushrod as-
sembly (A,
Figure 66
). Make sure the end of the
push rod engages the seat in the master piston.
