To connect your printer and computer using the parallel port
1.
Turn off your printer and computer.
2.
Plug the 36-pin connector end of the cable into the printer’s
parallel port (fig. 2.34).
3.
Plug the 25-pin end of the cable into the computer’s parallel port.
4.
Turn on your computer and then the printer.
5.
Install and configure the printer driver and PPD following the
procedures in chapter 4, “PC Setup.”
Connecting to the Serial Port
Use a standard serial cable to connect your computer and printer (fig.
2.37). This cable has either a 9-pin or 25-pin female connector to
attach to the computer and a 9-pin male connector to attach to the
printer.
