Calculator
Use the calculator as a tool for determining the settings that best suit your needs. Refer to the Programming
chapter and Quick Programming for more information on these settings.
Hard Disk Drive Size
Select the size of your AurorAcorD hard drive. You can find this information by selecting Disk Functions >
Hard Disk Functions from the AurorAcorD Main Menu. The disk size in megabytes is available on the Status
line of the Hard Disk Functions screen.
Frame Rate
Select the frame rate (frames/second). Use the slide bar to select 1-15 frames/second or choose Max. The
maximum frame rate is approximately 18-24 frames/second for NTSC. Make a selection and use the Results
at the bottom of the calculator to see how frame rate affects the recording duration. To change the frame rate
in the AurorAcorD menus, select Record/Playback Setup > Record Setup from the AurorAcorD’s Main Menu.
Then select Normal Rate and make your selection.
Quality
Select a Quality setting for normal video. Use the Results at the bottom of the calculator to see how changing
the Quality of the video changes the recording duration. To set the Quality in the AurorAcorD menus, refer to

Programming section.
Sensitivity
The Sensitivity setting defines how much motion is required before recording takes place. Select a Sensitivity
setting and observe how the various settings change the recording duration data in the Results.

Activity
Use this field to observe how various rates of activity (hours/day) affect your recording duration data. “Activity”
refers to motion in the field of view of the camera, such as swinging signs, swaying trees and so forth.
Results
This table illustrates how changing the settings changes how much data you can archive to floppy and CD,
and also the recording rate and number of days that you can record before filling your hard disk.
