Messages
Messages may be displayed on your PC monitor using HyperTerminal or other communications program.
You may also print messages to a serial printer. Define com1 or com2 (whichever port is set to RS-232; com1
is RS-232 by default) as discussed in
Serial Ports
.
Note: The Print Alarms field of the Serial Port Setup menu must be set to Yes to print alarm messages. If it is
set to No, responses may be echoed at the PC without printing the alarm messages.
The general format for messages is:
Alarm: (type) (camera number) (action) (date) (time with AM/PM indicator)
where the types may be video loss, motion detection, receiver alarm, alarm device connected to the 37-pin
alarm interface connector or communication failure. The actions are automatic acknowledgment, alarm on,
alarm off and manual acknowledge. Note that receiver alarms and communication failures always latch, so
that there is never an “alarm off” shown for these actions.
For example:
Alarm:Vloss 1 ALARM ON 06/15/00 06:07:57 PM
indicates that video loss occurred at 6:07 PM on 6/15/00 on camera 1, which initiated an alarm. A
communication failure message might display as:
CommF 1 ALARM ON 06/15/00 06:08:01 PM
A receiver alarm message example is shown below:
Alarm:Rcvr 1 Auto Ack 06/15/00 06:08:08 PM
where the message indicates that the action was set to automatically acknowledge the receiver alarm.
Selecting a Monitor
There are three monitors for the AurorAcorD system, the spot monitor and two main display monitors. The
spot monitor is used as a monitoring station and does not have the capability of multi-picture display. Use the
main display monitors to take advantage of all AurorAcorD features.
Press
SPOT
MONITOR
to toggle the monitor selection. The spot monitor LED is illuminated to indicate that the spot
monitor is selected. A momentary message will also display to indicate the monitor selection.
Controlling Digital Pan, Tilt, Zoom Functions
Note: This function is not available for multi-picture display or on the spot monitor.
Digital Pan, Tilt, Zoom (PTZ):
An operator can electronically zoom in/out on an area of the viewing scene and
then pan and tilt within the constraints of the original scene. If you are in Playback mode, you can
electronically zoom in/out on the recorded video. You cannot view outside the original scene as with a
mechanical pan-and-tilt drive. In full screen display, press
ZOOM
+
to invoke digital PTZ and then press
ZOOM
+
again
as needed (or hold key down) to zoom in on the scene. Use the arrow keys to pan and tilt within this scene.
The screen indicates which cameras had which types of alarm(s) and if there
was no video present. The camera numbers are listed vertically from right to
left. Notice that the first camera listed at the right side of the screen is listed
as “01” for camera 1, and so forth, to the last camera listed, which is camera
“16”, with the digits written vertically. In the example screen shown to the left,
there was no video on any cameras except 9 and 15. None of the cameras in
this example experienced any alarms. Alarms or “no video” data are shown
by an “x” under the appropriate camera number.
