Defining Update Priority for Live Display
Note: The Update Priority setting refers to Live display on the Main Display monitors only.
Use this setting to define a relative update rate of Live video for each camera (this applies to the main display
monitors only). This allows you to define that the video from more important cameras may be updated faster
than the video from less important locations by performing the following procedure.
Note: The Main Display Window Configuration screen, discussed in the Operation chapter, includes the
Update Priority field. This is the same setting as discussed in this section. If you change the setting in
the Main Display Window Configuration screen, it will change the setting in the Change Update
Priorities programming screen, and vice versa.

2. If you want to globally set all of your cameras to Normal update rate, which refers to the Live display only,
select Set all to Normal. Setting all of your cameras’ update priorities
Normal
means that the update rates
for each camera will be equal. To set the priority for cameras individually, proceed with the steps below.
3. Select Change Updt (Update) Priorities on the Update Priorities screen to change update priorities per
camera.
4. Using the onscreen instructions, select either High or Normal priority for each camera. Select High to
update video more quickly relative to the Normal setting. Use High for more critical viewing locations. The
Normal setting should be chosen for less important viewing areas.
Note: Setting all cameras to High or Normal will result in no change in update rate during Live display, unless
you set the Motion Processing to Higher Update or Alarm + Higher Update. This would result in an
increased update rate only during motion detection. The higher update rate associated with motion
detection automatically returns to the Update Priorities rate ten seconds after motion detection stops.
Refer to the next section for more information on motion processing.
