2. Serial port 1 is the default for RS-232 communications and serial port 2 is the default for RS-422. To
change the default setup, make software changes in this screen. As discussed in the Installation chapter,
use the RS-232/RS-422 termination box for RS-232 connections or you may use the RS-232 upgrade
cable. You must use the AurorANet termination box for AurorANet 2-wire RS-485 communications.
Alternatively, you may change jumper settings if you do not adhere to the defaults (RS-232 on port 1 and
RS-422 on port 2.) Jumper settings are discussed in the Reference chapter. Make the appropriate
selection for the Mode field using the table below.

This port will receive the host protocol and print host responses,
alarms and time.
A99Host
This port will receive the AurorA99 host protocol.
Host
This port will receive the host protocol.
Printer
This port will print alarms and time.
Receiver
This port will communicate with receivers and/or domes.
AurorANet
This port will communicate on the AurorANet RS-485 proprietary
protocol.
Prn/A99Hst
This port will receive the AurorA99 host protocol and print alarms
and time.
Off
This port will not be connected to a device.
3. Select the protocol type for the device that you will have connected to Serial port 1: RS-232, RS-422 or
RS-485.
4. Return to the Serial Port Setup screen and repeat this procedure for Serial Port 2.
5. Proceed to the More Host Setup selection of the Serial Port Setup screen, using the menu path above.

more information on synchronizing the time on multiple AurorAcorDs.
6. Choose a host address from 1 to 999 if you will control more than one AurorAcorD with a PC. Note that
the upper range of the host address parameter is 65535; make sure that you do not use an address
higher than 999. Retain the default “0” if you will not use the function.
7. Select
either
CR

CR LF
for a command terminator for serial port commands.
8. Return to the Serial Port Setup screen and select Yes for Print Alarms if you want to print alarm
messages on serial ports 1 or 2. The serial port Mode must be set to Prn/Host, Prn/A99Host or Printer.
