5.10.7 Troubleshooting
This section describes the routine preventive maintenance required to
maintain the MCD in is peak operating condition as well as some
procedures an operator may use to diagnose and correct MCD
problems.
5.10.7.1
MCD LED Interpretation
The problem may be easily determined by observing the Service LEDs
on the Alarm Panel, and the LEDs on each module’s front panel. In
general, if an Alarm Panel
red
Service LED is lit for more than a few
minutes, the module in the indicated slot is faulty. Remove and replace
the indicated module with a known good module to confirm the
indicated module is faulty. Refer to the Service LED descriptions and
module LED descriptions for details in the ArcLight Installation and
Maintenance User Guide.
5.10.7.2 MCD
Administrative
Access
Although the parameter values are normally set and adjusted over the
link by the NMS operator, a Telnet session may be used to display the
various parameter values as well as manually configure the MCD. This
access method is useful when the MCD SNMP MIB is not providing a
functionality that the operator wishes to examine.
To connect to the active M&C, open a Telnet session to the IP address of
the active M&C in the MCD chassis. A Telnet session example is shown
in Figure 5-25 and it requires an administrative username and
password to be supplied (not shown for security reasons in this
example).

Command
Reference
5.10.7.3.1 The ’uc_show’ Command
This command displays the current parameters and status of the Utility
Card. A typical example is shown in Figure 5-26 and Figure 5-27
further describes the output of the ’uc_show’ command.
