15.2 Instant Program Select
Another feature within the Adjust Buttons Sub Menu controls how the Scaler
performs its output switching. To adjust this feature, rotate the Menu Select knob
until you see the following LCD display:

Instant prog. select [ On]
If Instant Program Select is set to “On”, anytime an input button is pressed, the
program output will instantly change to the new selection. If set to “Off”, pressing
the input button will cause the image to appear on the Preview monitor and the
selected input button will begin to flash. Pressing the input button a second time
will cause the image to be switched onto the program bus. This feature allows
you to examine the image before you display it for everyone else to see. The
feature is a simple toggle so there are no flashing brackets. Just press the Menu
Select knob to switch from one mode to the other.
15.3 Preview Follow Mode
There may be occasions where you want to set the preview feature to
continuously monitor a single input. An example would be a live camera showing
a scene that is only important when some specific event occurs. If you could
monitor the preview monitor and determine when the event was about to occur,
you could switch to it just before the event so those watching the program display
could be viewing other material until the event occurred. The Preview Follow
Mode is used for just this sort of situation.

The Preview Follow Mode screen only appears when the Instant Program Select
feature is set to “On”. If the Instant Program Select feature is set to “On”, you will
see the above screen when you rotate the Menu Select knob one detent to the
right. When the above screen appears, pressing the Menu Select knob will
toggle the feature between “On” and “Off”. When it is “Off”, the Preview monitor
will be locked on the image it is displaying and it will not change regardless of
what selections you make on the input select buttons.
For Instant Program Select and Preview Follow Mode, remember to press and
hold the Menu Select knob until you hear the “Beep” if you want your changes to
survive should the Scaler be unplugged from the AC outlet.
