3.4.4 Creating Focused
Gradients
Focused gradients are a convenient way of minimizing method
development. Typically, a universal gradient separation can be
performed on an analytical HPLC system. Based on the retention
time of the analytical separation, a method with an ideal narrow
range gradient (such as 20-30%B) can be selected for optimal
separation of a target peak.
When creating a set of focused methods, keep in mind that the
methods will be displayed in the drop down in the order created.
For example, if you want methods for “10-30%B” and “20-40%B”,
etc. you may want to create them in sequential order. To create
other methods see Section
3.4.3
.
