IPE CODES AT THE TANKS

The codes of the piping in the picture are used in the installation tables in section 9.4 to determine the right in-
stallation diameters.
Numbering
Tank numbering may be useful to install flow and return connections in the right way, but doesn’t affect pipe
diameters. Only numbers of tanks and water heater type do (see tables § 9.4.2).
Encoding
Tank connections: A1 and B1 (entrance and exit). The values are found in the tank tables (§ 9.4.2)
Pipes between these connections: FF and RR, values from the water heater tables (§ 9.4.1).
For a given cascade, A1 equals B1.

QUIVALENT LENGTH
Piping between (cascaded) water heaters and one or more tanks. Equivalent length.
Piping connecting the water heater
s’ cascade with the tanks may not be too long, and moreover, every extra
component, such as bends and the like, contributes to the so-
called ‘equivalent length’, see table ‘Equivalent
lengths’ in § 9.4.3 on page 50.

tables and values given in §§ 9.4 and 9.5.

Assigning codes to a one water heater installation:

There’s only one flow pipe, encoded FF, and one return pipe, encoded RR. For the right diam-
eters see § 9.4.1, pick the table of the corresponding water heater type.
Assigning codes to cascades: two or more water heaters to connect:
- First number the water heaters: water heater-
1 is the one that‘s situated the furthest away from
the tank(s).
- Connections directly to the water heaters: F1 = R1 = 54

