Testing the Monitor
If you suspect monitor-specific problems, you can activate the monitor self
test for confirmation. This test displays patterns on the screen. The patterns
are separate from the system video. The patterns display in the
following order:
Cross-hatch pattern (#1): seven lines of white consecutive dashes, each
alternating with a line of white vertical bars, on a black background.
Black test pattern (#2): "BLACK" in white letters on a black background.
White test pattern (#3): "WHITE" in black letters on a white background.
Color-bar test pattern (#4): four vertical bars, labeled (from left to right)
"W" for white, "R" for red, "G" for green, and "B" for blue.
To test the monitor:
1. Press the Monitor self test button located on the underside of the
monitor with the tip of a pen or a paper clip.
The green monitor LED (under the Siemens logo) blinks and the first
test pattern in the sequence displays on the screen.
2. Observe the cross-hatch display and note any differences from the
correct display described above.
3. Press the Degauss button located on the underside of the monitor to
scroll through each test pattern in the sequence. Compare each test
pattern with the correct display (described above) and note any
differences, such as missing colors or geometric distortions.
When you press the Degauss button the fourth time, the monitor self
test automatically exits and the green monitor LED (under the Siemens
logo) stops blinking.
4. Contact your Siemens service representative if you notice a missing color,
geometric distortion, or other incorrect display in any of the patterns.
Degaussing the Monitor
The color display on the monitor can become distorted from electromagnetic
buildup. You can correct these distortions using the Degauss
button.
To degauss the monitor:
Press the Degauss button.
Note:
A ten-minute charge time is required before the next activation of the
Degauss button.
