Using Your Phone Near Other Electronic Devices
Most modern electronic equipment is shielded from ra d i o
f requency (RF) signals. H oweve r, some electronic equipment
m ay not be shielded, or adequately shielded, f rom RF signals.
RF signals from wireless telephones may affect such equip-
m e n t .
RF signals from your phone may affect systems in your ve h i-
cl e ,i n cluding impro p e r ly installed or inadequately shielded
e l e c t ronic operating and entertainment systems in motor
ve h i cles (such as electronic ignition systems, e l e c t ro n i c
speed control systems, e l e c t ronic anti-skid or anti-lock bra k-
ing systems, e l e c t ronic speed control systems, and air bag sys-
t e m s ) . You should ch e ck with the manu fa c t u rer of your ve h i-
cle (and the manu fa c t u re rs of any equipment added to yo u r
ve h i cle) to determine whether its systems are adequately
shielded from ex t e rnal RF signals and to determine appro p ri-
ate safety pre c a u t i o n s .
You must consult the manu fa c t u rer of any personal medical
d evices (such as pacemake rs and hearing aids) to determ i n e
if they are adequately shielded from ex t e rnal RF signals and
the appro p riate safety precautions to take with such dev i c e s
For example safety instructions for pacemake rs may incl u d e
m i n i mum distances that the phone should be kept from the
p a c e m a ke r, a reas where the phone should not be kept (fo r
ex a m p l e , the breast pocke t ) , use of the ear opposite the
p a c e m a ke r, and other such safety instru c t i o n s .The advice
f rom the manu fa c t u re rs may ch a n ge from time to time. If at
a ny time you suspect any such interfe re n c e ,t u rn off yo u r
phone immediately.
Tu rn off the phone in healthcare facilities and request per-
mission befo re using the phone near medical equipment.
